Please join NSIMC meditation teacher Ted Jones for a Saturday morning program held in partnership with the First Religious Society, Unitarian Universalist, in Newburyport.
When: Saturday, March 16, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Where: First Religious Society, Unitarian Universalist, Lower Meetinghouse
Description: This morning retreat will utilize instruction and guidance in sitting and walking meditation to calm the mind and deepen present-moment awareness, moving toward the requisite interior silence of contemplative prayer. The instruction in contemplative prayer will be based on the teachings of Ted's uncle, Father Thomas Keating, including this well-known quotation: God's first language is silence; everything else is a poor translation. Although the retreat will be conducted mainly in silence, there will be ample time for questions and discussion. No prior meditation experience is required.
Ted Jones has been practicing Insight meditation since 1978, when he began sitting with his principal teacher, Larry Rosenberg. Read more about Ted at his teacher page.
This program is being offered free of charge, although donations will be gratefully accepted on the day of the program. However, preregistration is required so that we know how many people to expect. To register, please send an email with your name and email address, and those of any guests, to northshoreimc@gmail.com.
