Each day we make so many choices: what to eat, where to go, what to do, whom to see, what to prioritize, etc. We think our freedom and happiness lie in these choices we make; and yet, we may be distracted, disconnected, and unsatisfied as we live out these choices. However, there is another choice that we can learn to make that can change this: It is the choice to be mindful. It is remembering to be aware and trusting in the power of being present over blindly believing our thoughts. It is inner, subtle, and often overlooked. Yet it is also bold, courageous, and can change the quality of our life. In this retreat, we will explore the power of choosing to be mindful moment by moment. We will practice meditative techniques grounded in the senses, as well as recognizing and resting in the energy that is at the heart of all mindfulness practices: conscious awareness itself.
This retreat will consist of guided and silent meditation periods, reflection, and discussion. Complete beginners and a seasoned meditators alike are welcome to attend.
